How to choose a rehearsal studio for your band
2026-10-09
A rehearsal room is a place to play together, not a place to finish a record. Start with who is coming, what you will carry, and how long you need the room.
Check the backline before you hire a tempo
Some rooms publish a drum kit, guitar amps, a bass amp, and a PA. Others expect you to bring everything. StudioKhoj only lists gear that the studio itself has published. If the equipment line is empty, it was not verified. Do not assume a kit is in the room.
Hourly rates need a clock
Where a studio prints an hourly rehearsal rate, we show it as their published price and the date we read it. Night hours are often different from daytime hours. That figure is not a StudioKhoj discount unless an approved partner offer says so.
Tell us the city, the date, the number of people, and whether you need a drum kit. We will only suggest rooms that match, or say plainly if nothing listed fits.
What StudioKhoj will and will not invent
A city page on StudioKhoj lists named rooms that came from a public source. If a city has no named studio, the page stays out of Google rather than being filled with a generic recording-studio row. A profile does not gain a drum kit, a vocal booth, a Dolby room, or a street pin because those things are common. They appear only when that studio’s own site or another public source said so.
Prices work the same way. StudioKhoj does not publish a national hourly rate, a city average, or a starting-from figure made up to rank for a price search. If a studio printed a number on its own site, the profile may mention that it was seen, and it will say the figure was not reconfirmed as a partner rate. The number you can book against is the one in the reply to your enquiry.
The phone and WhatsApp button on every page reach StudioKhoj on +91 79865 77067. They are not a direct studio booking line. The studio’s own number is not printed. Sending the short form — artist name, date, and your phone — opens a WhatsApp draft. You still tap Send. A reply is not a hold until you accept the terms.
How to use the city pages
A jam room and a recording studio are booked for different reasons. A rehearsal is practice: drums, amps, a PA, and enough floor for the band. A recording booking is a take you want to keep. Some rooms do both. The city has a rehearsal hub only where at least one room is filed that way. Bengaluru, Delhi, and Gurugram are examples. Most other cities on this site currently list recording rooms only.
Ask whether a drum kit is in the room, whether you may bring your own, and whether the hour includes a sound person. If the profile does not list a kit, do not arrive expecting one. StudioKhoj does not label a room the best jam room.
Book the length you will actually play. A one-hour slot that includes setup is a short rehearsal. Say how many people are coming. A room listed for a small jam is not automatically a hall for a fifteen-piece group, even if another Bengaluru room has published a capacity.
- Say the instruments you are bringing and the ones you hope are there.
- Ask if the hour starts when you arrive or when you play.
- Use the rehearsal hub where the city has one, and the recording hub otherwise only if the room also records.
Start with the city you will actually travel to. Recording studios in Mumbai, recording studios in Delhi, recording studios in Bengaluru, recording studios in Hyderabad, recording studios in Chennai, recording studios in Kolkata, recording studios in Pune, and recording studios in Ahmedabad are the larger lists. In the north, recording studios in Chandigarh, recording studios in Mohali, recording studios in Panchkula, and recording studios in Zirakpur sit next to each other because artists cross the Tricity in one session. Punjab hubs such as Ludhiana, Amritsar, Jalandhar, and Patiala are separate pages, not folded into Chandigarh.
Open the studio by name after the city page. The profile repeats the area that is already on file, the services that were published, and a plain answer on price and hours: rates are shared on enquiry, and hours are confirmed when you enquire unless a public source already printed them. Compare every other studio linked from that city, not a short sample. Then send one enquiry with the date, the headcount, and whether you need a vocal hour, a song, or a band rehearsal.
